Janet Lansbury – Unruffled Podcast
Are you looking for resources to assist on your parenting journey?
Unruffled is a podcast hosted by parenting philosophy author, Janet Lansbury.
In 2015, when my partner was pregnant with our first daughter, we picked up Janet’s book Elevating Child Care: A Guide to Respectful Parenting. It was the beginning of my exploration of intentional parenting, and I’ve been following Janet ever since.
Her podcast, Unruffled, has been a useful, and accessible resource for me. I find it easy to pop on while doing the dishes or walking our dogs. My partner and I will listen together on long drives as well.
I have found it helpful when I’m met with a question or crisis in my parenting journey. And though our kids are no longer infants, the broad philosophy of treating babies, toddlers and children of all ages as whole human beings right from the start of their lives has been the foundation upon which I’ve tried to build relationships with my children.
Here’s a description of the podcast from a podcast streaming platform:
Each episode of Unruffled addresses a reader’s parenting issue through the lens of Janet’s respectful parenting philosophy, consistently offering a perspective shift that ultimately frees parents of the need for scripts, strategies, tricks, and tactics.
The specific episode I want to recommend has been a great help to me. It looks at parental favouritism, and gives a lot of tips for parents who are experiencing feelings of rejection and subsequent disappointment.
The episode is titled When a Toddler Rejects One Parent and is from Dec 8 of 2015.
This episode helped me properly frame some difficult feelings I was having when facing some of that parental favouritism.
I can’t recommend this podcast highly enough. The materials are great; the episodes are short and digestible, and the titles are specific and direct, so they’re easily navigated.
Unruffled is available on Spotify, Apple Podcast, Amazon Music and other podcast streaming platforms.
