Resources For Parents

MFF offers a variety of resources for parents in our Early Learning and Childcare Centres. We also offer FREE Parenting Seminars where parents are given an opportunity to discuss any challenges they might be facing and learn new strategies to help them face those challenges in a positive way.

Simcoe Muskoka Family Connexions

Offers children's mental health services including walk-in clinics, in-office programs and community based programs.

Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit

Provides links to many resources. Parents can also phone Health Connection to discuss any health or parenting concerns with a Public Health Nurse who is trained in Triple P.

The Psychology Foundation of Canada

has free downloadable resources that parents can use to teach their children about managing stress and anxiety, including: Kids Have Stress Too! and Parenting for Life. Handouts for Make the Connection 0-1 and 1-2 are also available for download.

Triple P Ontario

Triple P "is the flexible, practical way to develop skills, strategies and confidence to handle any parenting situation. It's backed by decades of research. And it's already helped more than 4 million children and their parents. On the Triple P Ontario website parents can find local providers and upcoming seminars and groups, as well as tips for common challenges.

Infant Mental Health Promotion

(IMHP) was started by the Hospital for Sick Children and is now informed by community partnerships across the country. Its Mission is, "to develop and promote best practices for infant mental health through education, advocacy and collaboration with families, professionals and the communities which influence the lives of infants and young children in Canada". Free downloadable resources include Comfort, Play and Teach.

Aha Parenting

Dr. Laura Markham has some great resources and a free weekly newsletter. Her site, Aha Parenting, has some great tips for a peaceful home. As the site says, "whether you’re wondering how to handle a specific challenge, just figuring out your child-raising approach, or ready to tear your hair out, you’ve come to the right place".

Operates a website with current information on pregnancy and childbirth.

The Best Start Resource Centre

Provides a variety of resources for families who are planning children, pregnant and/or raising children. They also carry a list of Aboriginal resources, of resources in French and of resources for Newcomers to Canada.

offers adult mental health and addictions services, including a Counselling Walk-In Clinic.

Offers an adult Walk-In Counselling Clinic in Bracebridge and Huntsville, as well as locations throughout Simcoe County.
