At Canadian Mental Health Association, Muskoka-Parry Sound (CMHAMPS) we are committed to hope and recovery through integrated mental health and addiction services. Using effective, safe, innovative partnerships and practices while empowering individuals, families, and communities to thrive through hope, recovery, wellness, and healthy lifestyles.

Canadian Mental Health Association, Muskoka-Parry Sound has been serving the community for the last 30 years and was formally known as Addiction Outreach Muskoka-Parry Sound and Muskoka-Parry Sound Community Mental Health. Both organizations integrated and became a branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association in 2015.

Addiction-Based Services

Our addiction-based services provide support to individuals experiencing and/or impacted by substance use and/or gambling to aid in the understanding of the effects of substance use, gambling, and gaming, while supporting positive change and enhanced coping and skill development.

We recognize that substance use impacts more than just the individual and often involves families, loved ones, and can extend as far as the community. It is our goal as an addiction team to support those faced with substance use and/or gambling, and gaming by offering:

  • Individual counselling including assessment, care planning and referrals
  • Addiction focused psycho-educational groups
  • Community consultation/liaison/collaboration with other organizations/health service providers
  • Capacity building and stigma reduction through education and prevention (community outreach)
  • School based education to understand the services and supports available through CMHA Addiction Services
Local Programming

Adult Outpatient: provides assessment, individual counselling, care planning and group counselling. Community consultation/liaison/collaboration can be made available to other organizations to increase awareness and build capacity.

Opioid Program: counselling and support is available to anyone who is concerned about their use of opioids. This includes individuals who are prescribed Methadone or Suboxone. Individual counselling, referrals to other services and harm reduction supports are available.  Counselling is also available for women who are pregnant and using substances or parents who are using substances and have children 6 years and under.

Rapid Access to Addiction Medicine (RAAM): is a low-barrier service for people 16 and older who are looking to make changes in their use of alcohol or opioids. This program is offered in collaboration with the North Muskoka Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic. You will be supported with an Addiction Counsellor and Nurse Practitioner to help meet your goals through counselling and anti-craving medications. This program also offers support with Suboxone for individuals struggling with opioid use.

Youth Addiction Services: provides counselling to youth who are misusing substances. Counselling is offered with a harm reduction approach, respecting the choices, and promoting safer use and options that help minimize the risk of substance use.  Support is also offered to youth who are impacted by someone else’s use. Common support offered includes moderation, abstinence, alternative coping, self-exploration, advocacy, and connection to community supports and resources.  Service may include individual support, groups, outreach in schools and community.  Case Management support is also available for youth in Muskoka for anyone up to and including 25 years of age.

Gambling/Gaming Services: are available for people who are concerned about their own or someone else’s gambling and/or gaming. An assessment will be completed to ensure appropriate treatment interventions.  Individual as well as group counselling is offered.

Harm Reduction Services: is an approach that aims to decrease the negative health, social and economic consequences of substance use, for the user and the community, without requiring abstinence. It’s a practical approach to substance use, recognizing that quitting may not be realistic or even desirable for everyone. This program offers naloxone training, education, along with safer use supplies, including safe disposal, community outreach and referrals.
