- Wash hands and put on gloves
- Organize supplies needed to change diaper
- Stand child close to you but not against your clothes
- Lower your body so you are able to support child if needed
- Remove diaper slowly
- Fold up and dispose of diaper in garbage can
- Clean child with moist disposable wipe
- Remove gloves and dispose of correctly
- Wash hands
- Allow child to sit on toilet if they so choose
- Replace diaper/underwear on child if needed
- Encourage child to pull up own pants, help if needed.
- Child will wash hands
- Disinfect area
- Wash hands thoroughly
